On September 2, GenstorAIge's Gen6 Retimer chip was officially launched at the 2026 ODCC Summit. GenstorAIge Vice President Li Zhen took the stage to deliver a speech and provided an in-depth interpretation of its technical solution, sparking heated industry discussions and attracting coverage from multiple media outlets.

GE6216 Officially Launched, Retimer Upgraded to an 'Essential Component' for AI Servers

GenstorAIge announced at the ODCC Summit the official launch of the GE6216 Gen6 Retimer chip. GenstorAIge Vice President Li Zhen stated directly on stage: "Over the past 20 years, peak server computing power has grown roughly 3x every two years, but interconnect bandwidth has only grown about 1.4x—the computing bottleneck is shifting from 'compute' to 'connectivity' and 'storage'."

He pointed out that PCIe 6.0 brings greater data throughput but also significantly shortens the effective transmission distance. The Retimer has been upgraded from a past 'optional accessory' to an 'essential component' for AI servers—the GE6216 is GenstorAIge's first answer for the Gen6 era.

"In AI servers, the benefit brought by Retimer is not just signal stability; it also unleashes system design freedom, supporting on-demand hardware resource allocation and elastic expansion."

In real-world scenarios, the GE6216 delivers three key values:

• GPU link extension—No need to upgrade to expensive board materials across the board; a combination of mid-to-low loss materials and active devices significantly optimizes the BOM;

• NVMe SSD link extension—Distance, board materials, and connectors shift from hard constraints to negotiable options;

• CXL link extension—As CXL 3.0 adoption and Gen6 platform integration advance simultaneously, every step forward in memory pooling amplifies the usage of Retimers.

Putting China's AI Data Centers on the Gen6 Expressway

Within one year, moving from"China's first disclosed roadmap"to"official launch", GenstorAIge's series of impressive progress in the Gen6 field became the focus of interviews by multiple media outlets, includingHuanqiu.com, NetEase Tech, DOIT, and CCIDNET.
